BOM From Project Idea

Take a free-form description ("I want to build a battery-powered ESP32 soil-moisture logger that uploads to MQTT") and produce a draft BOM.

Flow

1. Parse the description into: function, sensing, actuation, connectivity, power, environment.
2. Pull the user profile from $CLAUDE_USER_DATA/hardware-spec-assembly/data/profile.md to bias choices toward their preferred vendors and on-hand parts.
3. Propose the smallest plausible BOM that satisfies the description, with one alternative per slot.
4. List the assumptions made — these become the input to a follow-up create-hardware-spec if the user wants to commit.

Output

Print the draft BOM to the conversation as a markdown table, and offer to:

• promote it into a full project via create-hardware-spec, or
• discard and refine.

Do not create a project directory at this stage — this skill is exploratory. Only create-hardware-spec writes a project to disk.
