Constraints & Gotchas
- Borrow/lifetime errors need structural fixes;
.clone() / Arc spam masks design debt and often regresses hot paths.
- Workspace package confusion: without
-p, cargo may typecheck a different member or the virtual root and hide the real error.
unwrap()/expect on library paths panic foreign callers; keep panics inside main, bins, or #[cfg(test)].
- Feature flags reshape the graph; after toggling,
cargo tree -p <crate> and a clean cargo check -p <crate> --all-features (if CI does) are mandatory.
- Edition/MSRV mismatches often pass locally and fail only in CI — match
[workspace.package] / rust-version in root Cargo.toml.
