Overview
Uses Steam-specific ext_json and is_recommend fields to run five specialized deep-dive analyses.

Analysis Templates
Template 1: Playtime portrait
Goal: At which stage do players leave the most negatives? Where does the "fun" peak for positive reviewers?
Adaptive segmentation rule:
- First query this game's P25/P50/P75/P90 quantiles of review_duration
- Divide segments dynamically based on those (not hard-coded)
- The report MUST clearly state which segmentation was used and why
Data-use priority: review_duration > record_duration > skip the row
Output: each segment × is_recommend cross-analysis → the stage where negatives concentrate + the stage where positives find their fun
Template 2: Abandonment analysis
Method B (preferred — more data):
- Condition:
record_duration - review_duration <= 2 hours
- Meaning: the player basically left the game right after writing the review
Supporting fields:
helpful_num / funny_num: a highly-upvoted negative = the voice of the silent majority
received_free / refunded: flag special user groups
Template 3: Disillusionment curve (V-curve)
Method:
- X-axis = fine-grained review_duration segments (0-2 / 2-5 / 5-10 / 10-20 / 20-50 / 50-100 / 100-150 / 150-200 / 200-300 / 300-500 / 500-800 / 800+)
- Y-axis = the is_recommend positive rate of that segment
- Find where the positive rate suddenly drops → the "disillusionment stage"
- Combine with that stage's negative content → diagnose the cause
Template 4: Community-consensus negatives (helpful-weighted)
Method:
- Filter
is_recommend = 0 + helpful_num >= 5
- Sort by helpful_num → the criticisms the community most agrees with
- Group by topic → 3-5 topics, 1-2 highest-helpful examples per topic
Template 5: Refund-player analysis
Method:
- Filter
refunded = 1
- Analyze: review content, review_duration, is_recommend
- Compare against non-refund negatives → distinguish "tolerable dissatisfaction" vs "outright deal-breakers"
Review-Change Tracking (Steam Review Change)
4-step method
- Post-version reviewers: filter
comment_time >= version release date; extract steam_id via REGEXP_EXTRACT(content_url, r'profiles/(\d+)')
- Pre-version reviewers: the same steam_id's reviews before the version
- User classification: LEFT JOIN → has history = "returning player", no history = "new reviewer"
- Attitude change: compare
is_recommend → "positive→negative" / "negative→positive" / "unchanged"
Notes
- Steam only: other platforms have no trackable user ID
- JOIN key:
steam_id + unified_edition_id
- For large volumes, COUNT the match rate first
