Crack and Resubmit Mechanics

Use a proper crack tool (PSA cracker, BGS slab breaker). Practice on junk first. Never touch surface bare.

PSA crack technique

1. Place slab on flat surface, label up
2. Insert PSA cracker tool at corner notch
3. Apply firm even pressure — slab pops at the seam
4. Card slides out in original penny sleeve
5. Inspect card under loupe before resubmission

BGS crack technique

1. BGS slabs use snap-fit closure
2. Apply pressure at corner notches
3. Slab opens like a clamshell
4. Card lifts out of inner foam
5. Inspect card before re-sleeving

Damage avoidance

1. Wear gloves (cotton or nitrile)
2. Work on padded surface (towel)
3. Crack at corner notch (designed weakness)
4. Avoid bending or twisting holder
5. Never use force tools (pliers, hammer)
6. Take photos before and after for documentation
