Pop Report Reading
Pop = population of cards graded at each level. Read pop to understand scarcity, predict price floors, and time submissions.
Reading PSA pop
PSA Pop Report shows pop at every grade level for every card. Key signals:
- Pop 10 < 100 = scarcity-driven premium
- Pop 10 > 10,000 = liquidity card, price tracks demand not scarcity
- Pop 10 growing >20%/year = supply pressure, expect price compression
- Pop 10 stable, sales velocity rising = bullish
Cross-grader pop integration
Total scarcity = PSA 10 pop + BGS 9.5+ pop + CGC 10 pop + SGC 10 pop. The TRUE 'top-condition' supply is the union, not just PSA. Many vintage cards have higher SGC pop than PSA pop.
Pop manipulation signals
- New PSA submissions spike after a price ramp → pop will grow → expect pullback
- Pop 9 >> Pop 10 → most submitters are missing 10 by one axis; submission EV is poor
- Pop 10 = 1 ('highest known') → liquidity vanishes; collector niche only
Where this fits in the X3 empire
