Platform UI zones to avoid

TikTok / Reels:

• Top 100px: header, profile pic
• Right 80px: like, comment, share, save column
• Bottom 250px: caption, music, share button

YouTube Shorts:

• Top 100px: header
• Right 80px: action column
• Bottom 200px: title + share

Safe area: middle 70% horizontal, 50-60% vertical.

Composing for safe zones

1. Subject's head/eyes: upper-middle (not at top edge)
2. Important text: middle 60% of frame
3. Logo/branding: top-left or center, not over UI
4. CTA text: center, not bottom (will be obscured)
5. Background details: don't worry about edges
6. Test on actual platform after edit

Aspect ratio adjustment

9:16 framing notes:

• Shoot wider than needed (16:9 or 4:3 source) — extra room for crop
• Subject upper-third for vertical (head not at top edge)
• Compose for vertical from outset (not crop from horizontal)
