OpenTrade CEX Trading

40 API endpoints for centralized exchange trading — market data, public metadata, account management, spot & futures orders, positions, and leverage.

IMPORTANT: This is a CEX (centralized exchange) trading skill. All trades are executed server-side with built-in risk controls — no private key management or transaction signing required.

IMPORTANT: Write operations (place order, close position, set leverage) are protected by a 4-layer risk engine: price deviation check, position limit, rate limit, and balance verification.

CRITICAL — Required Parameters for Orders:

• type (REQUIRED): Order type must always be specified (market, limit, stop_market, take_profit_market). Each type has different parameter requirements.
• hedged (REQUIRED): When placing orders (POST /orders) or closing positions (POST /positions/close), the hedged field is required. If the hedged value is unknown or not provided by the user, you MUST first call GET /position/mode to obtain data.hedged. Once obtained, the value can be reused for subsequent requests on the same symbol and exchange without re-fetching. Using an incorrect hedged value may cause order rejection or affect the wrong position.
• quantity for close position (REQUIRED): When closing a position, you must explicitly provide the quantity to close. 0 is not allowed. Use the actual position size from GET /positions when closing the full position.

CRITICAL — Prefer Contract (Swap) Symbol:

• When /market/metadata returns multiple markets, default to the perpetual/swap symbol (e.g., BTC/USDT:USDT) rather than the spot symbol (e.g., BTC/USDT).
• Only use the spot symbol when the user explicitly requests spot trading.
• Always use symbol field, NOT displaySymbol, when making API calls.

Every time before running any CEX command, always follow these steps in order:

Note: Trading pair format follows CCXT standard:

• Spot: BTC/USDT (no colon, no leverage)

API Reference

1. Get Market Metadata

获取指定交易对在所有交易所的市场元数据信息（交易对列表、合约类型、杠杆范围、最小下单量等）。

CRITICAL — Symbol Format (CCXT Standard):

Spot trading pairs: BASE/QUOTE format

• Example: BTC/USDT (spot trading, no leverage)
• Characteristics: spot: true, swap: false, contract: false, margin: false

Perpetual futures (swap): BASE/QUOTE:SETTLE format

• Example: BTC/USDT:USDT (USDT-margined perpetual contract)
• Characteristics: spot: false, swap: true, contract: true, margin: true
• The :SETTLE suffix indicates the settlement currency (usually matches QUOTE)

How to distinguish in /market/metadata response:

1. Check the symbol field format:
   • Contains : → Perpetual futures (e.g., BTC/USDT:USDT)
   • No : → Spot (e.g., BTC/USDT)
2. Check boolean flags:
   • spot: true → Spot trading pair
   • swap: true → Perpetual futures
   • contract: true → Any derivative (futures/swap/option)
3. Check type field: "spot", "swap", "future", "option"

IMPORTANT — Use symbol, NOT displaySymbol:

• Always use the symbol field when calling other endpoints (ticker, orders, positions, etc.)
• The displaySymbol field is for display purposes only and may not work correctly in API calls
• Example: Use symbol: "BTC/USDT:USDT" from the response, not displaySymbol

All risk-controlled endpoints (marked with "Risk: Yes" in Command Index) pass through a 4-layer risk engine before execution:

Risk engine behavior:

• Rules are checked in priority order (rate limit → price deviation → position limit → balance check)
• First failure stops the chain — remaining rules are not checked
• The risk engine uses a fail-open strategy: if market data or Redis is unavailable, the check passes (prioritizing availability)

Edge Cases

• Risk engine rejects order: Display the rejection reason clearly. Common causes: price too far from market (>10%), position too large, rate limited, insufficient balance. Suggest the user adjust parameters and retry.
• Insufficient balance: Check balance with GET /account/summary first. For futures, consider leverage — required margin = order value / leverage.
• Rate limited: If 30+ requests in 1 minute, wait 60 seconds before retrying. Inform the user about the cooldown.
• Close position quantity missing or zero: For POST /positions/close, quantity must be explicitly provided and must be greater than 0. To close the full position, call GET /positions first and use the actual current position size.
• Position mode conflict: Cannot switch position mode while holding open positions. Close all positions first.
• Leverage change with open positions: Some exchanges restrict leverage changes when positions are open. Close positions or reduce size first.
• Order quantity precision: Use GET /market/metadata to check amountMin and costMin. Ensure order meets minimum requirements.
• Minimum notional: Orders below the minimum cost (e.g., $5 costMin) will be rejected by the exchange.
• Network error: Retry once, then prompt user to try again later.
• Region restriction (error code 50125 or 80001): Do NOT show the raw error code to the user. Instead, display: Service is not available in your region. Please switch to a supported region and try again.

Amount Display Rules

• CEX amounts use standard units (e.g., 0.1 BTC, 100 USDT) — NOT minimal units like DEX
• Always show currency symbol alongside amounts
• Format large numbers with commas (e.g., $67,500.50)
• Show P&L with sign and color hint: positive (+$250.00), negative (-$100.00)
• Show percentage changes with sign (e.g., +1.89%, -0.52%)
• Leverage shown as multiplier (e.g., 10x, 20x)

Global Notes

• All endpoints require Authorization: Bearer <token> header
• Supported exchanges: binance, bybit, okx, hyperliquid, aster
• Trading pair format follows CCXT standard:
  • Spot: BTC/USDT (no colon suffix)
    • Characteristics: spot: true, swap: false, contract: false, leverageMax: 1
    • Use for spot trading without leverage
  • Perpetual futures (swap): BTC/USDT:USDT (with :SETTLE suffix)
    • Characteristics: spot: false, swap: true, contract: true, leverageMax: 125
    • The :SETTLE suffix indicates settlement currency (usually matches quote currency)
    • Use for leveraged perpetual contract trading
  • Always use the exact symbol value from GET /market/metadata response to ensure correct market type
  • Always use symbol, NOT displaySymbol when calling API endpoints (displaySymbol is for display only)
  • Default to contract (swap) symbol when multiple markets exist for the same ticker — only use spot when user explicitly asks for spot trading
  • Quick check: If symbol contains : → it's a perpetual futures contract; no : → it's spot
• The API routes through the CEX gateway with built-in risk controls — trades execute server-side
• No private keys or transaction signing involved — this is CEX trading via API
