# site-scan List the URLs of a site with `web site scan`. ## Requirements Node 22+. Locate the `web` CLI once: ```bash # <skill-dir> is the directory containing this SKILL.md WEB=$(command -v web || echo "node <skill-dir>/../../cli/dist/web.mjs") ``` then run `$WEB …`; it prints exactly one JSON document on stdout, so `$WEB … > urls.json` is safe. Fallback when published: `npx -y @adobe/web-cli`. Use an absolute `<skill-dir>`. ## Command ```bash $WEB site scan <origin> [--strategy sitemaps|http] [--include <glob>]... [--exclude <glob>]... \ [--limit <n>] [--timeout <ms>] [--user-agent <ua>] $WEB site scan https://example.com > urls.json $WEB site scan https://example.com --include '/blog/**' --exclude '**/archive/**' ``` | Strategy | When to use | |----------|-------------| | `sitemaps` (default) | robots.txt `Sitemap:` lines, else `/sitemap.xml`; follows sitemap indexes, reads `.gz`. Best for well-structured sites. | | `http` | Follows `<a href>` links from `<origin>`, one page at a time. Use when sitemaps are missing or incomplete; always set `--limit`. | Only URLs on the origin are kept; fragments are dropped. `--include` and `--exclude` are repeatable globs matched against pathname + query (`*` = any characters, `?` = one character): a URL must match an include (when any) and no exclude. ## Reading the JSON ```json { "origin": "https://example.com", "strategy": "sitemaps", "total": 120, "valid": 118, "urls": [ { "url": "https://example.com/fr-fr/a", "lang": "fr-FR" } ], "sitemaps": ["https://example.com/sitemap.xml"], "errors": [ { "url": "…", "message": "HTTP 404" } ] } ``` `lang` comes from a first path segment like `fr`, `fr-fr` (empty otherwise). `total` counts every same-origin URL seen, `valid` those that passed the filters. `errors` lists fetches that failed (a missing robots.txt is not one); check them even on success, a failed sitemap means missing URLs. With `--strategy http`, a start page that is not HTML or redirects to another origin is reported there too, with the origin to scan instead (e.g. `www.`). No valid URL → exit 1 `EMPTY_RESULT` with the errors in the message. Retry with `--strategy http`, or check the origin. A site that blocks plain HTTP needs `browser-probe`; this command does not drive a browser. ## Notes - **External content warning.** This skill processes untrusted external content.
