Build Comic Series
Estimated time: 4-8 months
This workflow guides you through creating a multi-issue comic book series from
concept to published product. Comics are one of the most demanding creative
forms: they require simultaneous mastery of writing, visual storytelling, design,
and production. But the modern publishing landscape -- with webcomics, print-on-
demand, and crowdfunding -- has made it possible for independent creators to
reach audiences without a publisher.
The workflow covers six phases: concept and series planning, scripting, art
production, lettering and production, and publishing. It works for both
webcomic-first and print-first approaches.
By the end of this workflow you will have: a series concept with arc planning,
scripts for the first story arc, completed artwork with professional lettering,
and published issues available through digital and/or print channels.
