# Git Flow Hygiene ## Guardrails - Never push `main`/`master`. Use topic branches + MR/PR. - Push only when the user explicitly asks (non-protected branches only). - Never skip hooks or rewrite git config / author identity. ## Checklist 1. Confirm identity: `git config --get user.name` / `user.email` (do not override). 2. On a topic branch (`feat/`, `fix/`, `chore/`, …). 3. Conventional commit prefix; small single-purpose commits. 4. If `.pre-commit-config.yaml` exists in the owning repo root: ```bash pre-commit install pre-commit run --all-files ``` 5. If hooks rewrite files: stage fixes, re-run until green. 6. On behavior change: run repo-appropriate tests. 7. Update `CHANGELOG.md` Unreleased when user-visible or CI-affecting.
