| description | Use when a task needs current external information, live documentation, recent provider/model behavior, pricing, release notes, or source verification beyond the local workspace. |
Web Research
Use this skill when the user asks to search the web, verify current behavior, compare live provider docs, inspect recent releases, or answer a question where local workspace context may be stale.
Before relying on external facts:
- Prefer official documentation, primary sources, release notes, API references, and vendor docs.
- Treat web results as context, not truth. Cross-check important claims when the result set is thin.
- Cite URLs in the final answer when external sources shape the response.
- Say when the search result set is insufficient or ambiguous.
- Do not send secrets, API keys, private code, customer data, or sensitive project details into web queries.
For IDE Agent, selecting this skill asks the server to fetch web search context before the runtime starts. The server emits a web.search event and records the search in the audit log.
