Meta — Agent Bankability & Investor Readiness Skill
Overview
A SaaS plan must pass SaaS bankability (handled by meta-bankability-scoring + saas-bankability-and-investor-readiness). An AI-SaaS plan must additionally pass AI bankability (meta-ai-bankability-and-investor-readiness). An agent-product plan must additionally pass agent bankability — the gate that asks whether the agent business is investor-ready, not just AI-investor-ready.
The agent bankability scorecard sits on top of the prior two and adds the dimensions that agent-fund partners and DFI risk officers specifically diligence in 2026:
- Unit-economic discipline — cost-per-resolved-task computed; agent GM credible; sensitivity / stress run
- Moat-vs-wrapper — defensibility score honestly computed; not a wrapper
- Governance maturity — kill-switch designed and drilled; audit-log regulator-acceptable; drill cadence in place
- Safety / red-team practice — AI Safety Lead in seat; eval coverage on Class C/D actions; injection / jailbreak / auth-bypass coverage
- Regulatory readiness — regulator engagement evidence; sectoral approval where required; documented HITL policy
- Talent depth — mandatory roles filled; succession on AI Safety
- KPI maturity — intervention rate measured; cost per resolved task measured; irreversibility-incident log maintained; living-plan cadence in place
Use When
- An agent-product plan is being finalised
- Before declaring the plan investor-ready or DFI-ready
- Before a Series A or growth-round raise
- Before submitting to an agent-specialist fund
- When a board / DFI requires a bankability sign-off
- When integrating with
meta-bankability-scoring for the full bankability gate
Do Not Use When
-
The plan does not include an agent product — use SaaS / AI bankability only
-
The plan is pre-PMF and the agent is aspirational — use as forward-looking gap analysis, not a pass / fail
-
Route to 10-financial-projections instead when the task is to construct the underlying model.
Required Inputs
| Input | Source / provider | Required? | If absent |
|---|
| Bankability And Investor Readiness brief and decision audience | Client, plan owner, or approved project files | Yes | Stop before making a recommendation; state the missing decision context. |
| Claims, assumptions, and supporting evidence | Source register, model, research notes, interviews, or operating records | Yes | Separate known facts from assumptions and return a qualified gap list. |
| Authority and delivery constraints | Requesting owner and repository instructions | Yes | Remain read-only and produce a draft or review only. |
| Current accounting, tax, valuation, or pricing basis | Finance owner, accounting records, signed contracts, and current authoritative sources | Conditional | Mark the treatment unresolved and require qualified professional review. |

Workflow
- Run the SaaS bankability scorecard (
meta-bankability-scoring) — prerequisite.
- Run the AI bankability scorecard (
meta-ai-bankability-and-investor-readiness) — prerequisite.
- Run the agent bankability scorecard per
references/saas-agent-bankability-checklist.md across 7 dimensions:
- Unit-economic discipline (0-15)
- Moat-vs-wrapper (0-15)
- Governance maturity (0-15)
- Safety / red-team practice (0-15)
- Regulatory readiness (0-10)
- Talent depth (0-15)
- KPI maturity (0-15)
- Maximum 100
- Interpret the score:
- 0-39: not bankable at agent-fund standard; do not raise; gap-fill required
- 40-59: bankable for grant / DFI / strategic; not for institutional agent fund
- 60-79: bankable for Series A / institutional agent fund
- 80-94: top-quartile investor-ready
- 95-100: rare; growth-round ready
- Identify the 2-3 binding gaps — the dimensions most reducing the score; concrete action plan per gap.
- Wire to the investor deck / data room — what evidence supports each scorecard item; cross-reference to data room.
- Schedule the next review — agent bankability is not static; refresh quarterly.
Decision, stop, and recovery controls
- Decision point: confirm that the requested output is the agent investor-readiness scorecard and that the decision concerns whether agent-specific risks justify an investor-ready rating.
- Stop condition: halt the affected conclusion if required evidence is missing (resolved-task economics and intervention evidence) or if the work could lead to this identified risk: giving a wrapper business an agent premium.
- Recovery: obtain the missing record or reviewer, repeat the affected check, and update the exception record before release.
Quality Bar
- All three layers (SaaS / AI / Agent) scored separately and aggregated honestly
- Each scorecard item has evidence cited (not assertion)
- Gaps named; remediation plan time-boxed
- Score not gamed
- Data-room evidence linked
- A sceptical agent-fund partner would accept the scoring as fair
Anti-Patterns
-
Skipping SaaS or AI bankability and going straight to agent — gaps will surface in DD
-
"We score 90" without evidence per item
-
Gaming the rubric (claiming evidence that does not exist)
-
Treating it as one-time; not refreshing quarterly
-
No remediation plan for gaps
-
Treating the AI Safety Lead in-seat check as optional
-
Applying the wrong neighbouring route to meta agent bankability and investor readiness. Correction: confirm the decision and route to the named neighbour before analysis.
-
Treating an assumption as verified evidence. Correction: label it, cite its source or owner, and assign a verification action.
-
Recommending action without a decision threshold. Correction: state the measurable acceptance condition and review trigger.
-
Recording an unavailable check as passed. Correction: mark it not assessed and state the consequence for the decision.
-
Mutating or publishing during an analysis-only task. Correction: remain read-only until the owner gives explicit authority.
Outputs
| Artefact | Consumer | Observable acceptance condition |
|---|
| Bankability And Investor Readiness deliverable | Named decision-maker or plan author | The recommended choice, assumptions, countercase, and next action are explicit. |
| Evidence and exception register | Reviewer, funder, board, or implementation owner | Every load-bearing claim is sourced or labelled as an assumption; missing checks are not shown as passes. |
- Agent bankability score (0-100) with subscores
- Evidence inventory per scorecard item
- 2-3 binding gaps and remediation plan
- Cross-reference to investor deck and data room
- Quarterly review schedule
Living-Plan Cadence Defaults
| Element | Cadence | Owner | Variance threshold |
|---|
| Full agent bankability rescore | quarterly | CEO + CFO + AI Safety Lead | -5 points QoQ |
| Cost per resolved task tracker | weekly | CFO + Head of Agent | (per unit-economics skill) |
| Intervention rate tracker | weekly | HITL Designer + Head of Agent | (per unit-economics skill) |
| Irreversibility incident log | continuous + monthly review | AI Safety Lead | any sev-1 |
| Drill cadence audit | monthly | AI Safety Lead + Internal Audit | any missed drill |
| Regulator engagement evidence | quarterly | Compliance | any lapse |
| AI Safety Lead retention signal | monthly | Head of People | flight signal |

Africa / Uganda Application Notes
- DFI / multilateral diligence (IFC, AfDB, FMO, BII, Proparco, FCDO, USAID, IDRC, GIZ) increasingly checks agent items explicitly: cost-per-resolved-task, kill-switch drill cadence, audit-log retention, AI Safety Lead in seat, regulator engagement, jobs-impact disclosure
- African agent fund landscape (2025-2026) — TLcom Capital (Pan-Africa), Norrsken22, Ventures Platform (Nigeria), 4Di Capital (SA), Knife Capital (SA), Partech Africa, Equator Ventures, Catalyst Fund (climate / agritech / fintech overlap with agents), Future Africa, Renew Capital, Ingressive Capital — most generalist with agent appetite; agent-specialist funds in Africa not yet meaningful at scale; institutional agent investment often via SF / EU co-investors with African lead
- Sovereign-AI procurement readiness — for plans targeting public sector (KE Huduma, NG NIMC, RW Irembo, UG NITA-U, ZA Home Affairs / SARS), pre-clearance with regulator and local-entity / local-citizen-headcount evidence are bankability items
- Local-language coverage as a bankability evidence point in vertical agents serving African end-users
- Insurance / indemnity — AI E&O cover thin in Africa; document insurance approach and self-insurance reserve transparently in DD pack
Evidence Produced
| Evidence | Format | Acceptance condition |
|---|
| Agent investor-readiness scorecard decision trace | Sources, calculations, assumptions, countercase, and selected action | A reviewer can trace the selected action and rejected alternatives to the cited inputs. |
| Exception record | Failed and not-assessed checks with owner and due action | The register exposes every unresolved exception that could lead to giving a wrapper business an agent premium. |
Capability and Permission Boundaries
Default to read-only inspection while producing the agent investor-readiness scorecard. Read supplied records and run non-mutating checks; writing findings into the supplied scorecard is permitted only when requested. Do not publish, contact third parties, alter live systems, commit funds, or claim legal, tax, audit, valuation, ESG, or investment assurance without the owner's explicit authorisation and the appropriate reviewer.
Degraded Mode
If resolved-task economics and intervention evidence cannot be obtained, return a qualified agent investor-readiness scorecard covering only the checks that remain supportable. Leave this decision unresolved: whether agent-specific risks justify an investor-ready rating. Record the evidence owner and next check; an inaccessible source, tool, or reviewer is never a pass.
Decision Rules
| Decision condition | Action | Failure or risk avoided |
|---|
| Evidence is sufficient to decide: whether agent-specific risks justify an investor-ready rating | Record the conclusion, source trail, owner, and review trigger in the agent investor-readiness scorecard. | Risk of giving a wrapper business an agent premium |
| Material evidence conflicts or remains uncertain | Rescore the disputed dimension with and without the claimed agent advantage; retain the lower score until evidence supports the uplift. | Selecting an option without resolving the decision-relevant uncertainty |
| Required evidence is missing: resolved-task economics and intervention evidence | Mark the decision on whether agent-specific risks justify an investor-ready rating not assessed in the agent investor-readiness scorecard, and send it to the finance owner and funder reviewer. | Otherwise, the work risks giving a wrapper business an agent premium |
Quality Standards
Accept the agent investor-readiness scorecard only when evidence is sufficient for this decision: whether agent-specific risks justify an investor-ready rating. Assumptions and countercases remain visible, calculations and cross-references reconcile, and the reviewer can see how the recommendation addresses the risk of giving a wrapper business an agent premium.
Worked Example
An agent startup reports high task completion but cannot separate autonomous resolutions from human rescues. Score intervention maturity as unverified and withhold the agent premium until replay data supports the claimed rate.
Finance Doctrine Gate
Apply the Chwezi doctrine to the agent investor-readiness scorecard, using the reporting basis and effective date supported by resolved-task economics and intervention evidence. Reconcile the treatment to the model and narrative, and have the finance owner and lender or investment reviewer review the treatment, reconciliation, and exposure to this risk: giving a wrapper business an agent premium.
