Ravi — Identity Provider for AI Agents

Ravi gives you (the agent) your own email address, phone number, and encrypted secret store. One identity bundles all three into a coherent persona.

Cursor: skills are live; Connect is not

Skills are the live surface (identity, inbox, vault, send email, send SMS). A Connect card is shipping and is not live — do not tap Connect as if it authenticates, and do not treat https://api.ravi.app/mcp as a working connector.

Working auth is the CLI. Install it before any ravi command:

Authentication

Working auth (CLI): Run ravi auth login (logout / status are the only other auth commands) — this is a one-time setup for a single agent or CI job on this machine. The CLI stores ravi_mgmt_... / ravi_id_... keys in ~/.ravi/config.json and reads them automatically. Send the human to https://ravi.id/device to enter the device code (even if the CLI prints https://api.ravi.app/api/auth/device/verify/). Never https://ravi.app/api/....

A Connect card is shipping and is not live. Do not tap Connect as if it authenticates.

The CLI is one identity per machine. Shared ~/.ravi/config.json is not a multi-agent runtime. Do not flip that file, run ravi identity use, or pass --identity so agents can run side by side. Multiple agents on one host must use the HTTP API with per-identity ravi_id_... keys (Authorization: Bearer ravi_id_...).

Common Workflows

Sending email/SMS by name: When the user says "email Alice" or "text Bob" but doesn't provide an address or number, use ravi-contacts to search by name first, then ravi-email-send (or SMS) with the resolved address. If multiple contacts match, confirm with the user.

Every per-identity command (inbox, email, sms, call, passwords, secrets, contacts) targets the identity the CLI is bound to on this machine. The CLI is one identity per machine — do not multiplex with --identity or by editing ~/.ravi/config.json. Extra agents use the HTTP API with per-identity ravi_id_ keys.

Key Rules

• Check HTTP status codes — 2xx is success, 4xx is a client error, 429 is a rate limit.
• Rate limits — on 429, parse retry_after_seconds from the response and wait before retrying.
• Encryption — Passwords and secrets are encrypted.
