OpenHue CLI
Manage Philips Hue lights and scenes through a Hue Bridge from the command line.
Prerequisites
curl -sL https://github.com/openhue/openhue-cli/releases/latest/download/openhue-linux-amd64 -o ~/.local/bin/openhue && chmod +x ~/.local/bin/openhue
brew install openhue/cli/openhue-cli
The first time you run it, you'll need to press the button on your Hue Bridge to complete pairing. The bridge must be on the same local network.
When to Use
- "Turn on/off the lights"
- "Dim the living room lights"

Notes
- The bridge must be on the same local network as the machine running Ion
- Initial setup requires physically pressing the button on the Hue Bridge for authorization
- Color settings only apply to color-capable bulbs (white-only models ignore them)
- Light and room names are case-sensitive — run
openhue get light to verify exact names
- Works well with cron jobs for scheduled lighting (e.g. dim at bedtime, bright at wake)
