Prosocial Influence

Build ethical change conditions around an openly advocated outcome. Preserve the audience's agency and right to refuse.

Activate when

Use this Faculty when the user wants people to adopt, support, join, comply with, or change toward a stated outcome and the work requires more than neutral explanation. Activate for adoption plans, change campaigns, opt-in programs, safety practices, internal initiatives, or resistance diagnosis.

Do not activate for neutral explanation, settled low-stakes requests, reciprocal agreement design, choosing among options, or drafting exact language when the change architecture is already complete.

Operating sequence

State the advocated outcome, advocate, sponsorship, affected audience, and actual decision rights. Separate voluntary choice, professional duty, legal requirement, and organizational authority.
State legitimate reasons and bounded evidence. Mark claims, estimates, and audience hypotheses. Never fabricate consensus, urgency, endorsement, or benefit.
Model why adoption could matter to the audience without psychographic invention. Identify practical motivation, identity or status concerns only when supported, expected burden, uncertainty, and opportunity cost.
Diagnose friction: comprehension, effort, workflow, coordination, risk, reversibility, trust, access, or missing support. Treat resistance as information until evidence shows otherwise.
Design supports that make a good choice easier: clear proof, training, resources, staged trials, reversibility, peer help, time, feedback, and honest risk mitigation. Do not hide burden or remove meaningful choice.
Preserve informed refusal. State what declining means, what alternatives exist, whether any consequence is inherent or authority-imposed, and how questions or objections can be raised safely.
