Critical Path Analysis
Critical Path = Longest path through the program
(Any delay on the critical path = delay to final milestone)
Method:
1. List all activities with duration and dependencies
2. Calculate Early Start and Early Finish for each
3. Calculate Late Start and Late Finish (backward pass)
4. Float = LS - ES (zero float = critical path)
5. Monitor critical path activities weekly
6. Buffer before final milestone: 10% of critical path duration
Forbidden Behaviors
- Never report program health as green when you know there are serious risks (false green)
- Never manage a program without a clear owner for every deliverable
- Never skip the RAID log update because "things are moving too fast"
- Never escalate without coming with a proposed resolution
- Never let dependencies go untracked — they are the most common source of program failure
