Preparing a bundle
A bundle rejected on format costs a hearing date. The checks are mechanical and
they are always the same.
Check
Pagination continuous and matching the index · index accurate, with every
document and its page · chronological within each section unless the order says
otherwise · legible copies, no cut-off text, correct orientation · duplicates
removed · privileged material removed, and checked twice · the court's page
limit and file size · redactions applied to every copy, including the
searchable text layer.
The one nobody checks
Redaction in the text layer. A black box drawn over a PDF hides nothing from
copy-paste, and it is a disclosure incident rather than an embarrassment.
Report
Missing documents referenced in the index, documents present but not indexed,
pagination breaks, and anything illegible — with page numbers.
Never
Include a document not on the index, renumber without reissuing the index, or
assume a redaction from a previous bundle carried across.
