Yu-Gi-Oh Grading and Print History
Yu-Gi-Oh has steep 1st Edition premiums and complex multi-region print history. Asian-language prints often exceed English in value.
Print regions and premiums
- English 1st Edition LOB (US, 2002): high-end ~$5-50K depending on card
- Asian-English LOB (2002): premium over US 1st Ed by 30-50%
- Japanese OCG prints (1999-2002): scarcer than English; collector premium 1.5-3×
- Korean OCG: highest premium for some cards (e.g., Korean Blue-Eyes 1st Ed)
- European prints: minimal premium
Grading market
PSA is the default for Yu-Gi-Oh. BGS used but pop is thinner. CGC viable for modern only. Asian-language collectors prefer PSA for global liquidity.
