ISO budget rule of thumb

For most modern cameras:

• ISO 100-400: pristine
• ISO 800-1600: clean
• ISO 3200: acceptable for color
• ISO 6400: visible noise but usable
• ISO 12800+: noisy, use only when necessary

Push ISO when light is limited; otherwise stay low.
