This is the most important path. The user has a project with real code and wants Arnold to document what already exists.
STEP B1: SCAN THE CODEBASE
Scan the project systematically using these specific steps:
1. Get the full directory tree:
Use Bash to run find . -type f -not -path '*/.git/*' -not -path '*/node_modules/*' -not -path '*/vendor/*' -not -path '*/__pycache__/*' -not -path '*/dist/*' -not -path '*/build/*' -not -path '*/.next/*' | head -200 to see the file structure. This tells you the project's shape.
2. Read project metadata:
Use Read on whichever exist: package.json, requirements.txt, pyproject.toml, Cargo.toml, go.mod, Gemfile, pom.xml, build.gradle, composer.json. Extract: project name, dependencies, scripts/commands.
3. Find source files by type:
Use Glob to find source files:

Use Glob for **/models/**, **/schemas/**, **/entities/**, **/types/**. Read the files to understand the domain objects.
6. Find and read routes/endpoints:
Use Glob for **/routes/**, **/controllers/**, **/handlers/**, **/api/**, **/pages/**. These reveal features.
7. Extract business rules from constants:
Use Grep to find constants and config values:
Grep for MAX_, MIN_, LIMIT_, TIMEOUT, TTL, RATE, EXPIR in source files

8. Check for middleware and cross-cutting concerns:
