Research Paper Writing
Use this skill to produce clear, evidence-backed academic prose. It supports Chinese graduation theses and English research manuscripts. The writing should make the research problem, method, evidence, and contribution easy to evaluate.
Core Rules
- Write from evidence: do not create results, citations, or claims that are not supported.
- Put the main point early in paragraphs and sections.
- Use concrete claims over vague importance statements.
- Keep contribution, method, and result claims distinct.
- Preserve the user's meaning when rewriting, but strengthen logic, flow, and academic tone.
- Mark missing citations or evidence explicitly.
- Check
evidence-promotion-policy.md before moving CLM-* content into final prose; section IDs should use SEC-*.
- Before final polish, check section citation coverage and data-backed claim traceability when thesis console files exist.
- Before advisor-facing or final polish, use
docs/thesis/nature-style-writing-checklist.md to check Introduction gap, related-work grouping, method reproducibility, results discipline, discussion boundaries, and overclaim risk.
Workflow
Read references/workflow.md for section templates, paragraph patterns, Nature-derived polishing checks, and revision checklists. Read references/source-map.md for source provenance.
- Identify the target section, language, audience, and available evidence.
- Determine the section's job in the paper.
- Draft or rewrite with a clear claim-evidence structure.
- Check each paragraph for topic sentence, evidence, transition, and overclaiming.
- For citation-heavy sections, consult
section-citation-map.md; for data-backed claims, consult data-availability.md; for final/advisor text, consult nature-style-writing-checklist.md.
- For final polish, apply section-aware academic style checks: paper type, section job, reader question, tense, hedging, sentence length, citation integrity, and overclaim risk.
- Return text plus unresolved evidence/citation gaps.
Output Contract
For drafting, include:
- revised or drafted section
- rationale for major structure choices
- missing citations or evidence
- optional shorter/stronger alternatives when useful
- final-polish notes when Nature-derived style checks are applied
- unresolved items from
nature-style-writing-checklist.md when relevant
For thesis-wide writing, prefer this order unless the user provides a template:
- method
- experiments
- result analysis
- related work
- introduction
- abstract
- conclusion
Do not overwrite a user's document unless they explicitly ask for file edits.
