Key characteristics:
- Agentless — No daemon on managed nodes. Uses SSH (Linux) or WinRM (Windows).
- Push-based — Control node pushes tasks to managed nodes (pull mode available via
ansible-pull).
- Idempotent — Well-written tasks produce the same result regardless of how many times they run.
- Ordered — Tasks execute sequentially within a play (parallelism across hosts via
forks).
