Workflow Steps
- Check status:
git status — review untracked and modified files
- Review changes:
git diff — understand what changed
- Check history:
git log --oneline -5 — follow existing commit style
- Stage files:
git add <files> — add relevant files only
- Commit: Use HEREDOC format for multi-line message
- Verify:
git status — confirm clean working tree
Commit Message Guidelines
- Title: Short, descriptive, explains what changed (not why)
- Body: Bullet list of key changes, each change on one line
- No generic statements: Avoid "updated code", "fixed issues"
- Be specific: List actual files/modules affected
