Business Writing
Use this skill to produce concise, audience-appropriate business artifacts.
Workflow
-
Identify the artifact.
- Determine the format: email, memo, SOP, proposal, PRD, executive summary, status update, announcement, one-pager, or other business document.
- Identify audience, intent, desired action, tone, length, and constraints.
- If tone is not specified, use clear, professional, plain language.
-
Extract the message.
- Identify the core ask, decision, update, or recommendation.
- Separate must-include facts from optional context.
- Preserve commitments, dates, pricing, names, and policy language exactly when provided.
-
Choose the structure.
- Put the most important point first.
- Use headings, bullets, or tables only when they make the artifact easier to act on.
- Keep paragraphs short and avoid filler, hedging, and vague business jargon.
-
Draft for action.
- Make the desired next step explicit.
- Match the user's requested voice without becoming informal unless asked.
- Avoid making unsupported claims or inventing details.
-
Revise when asked.
- For edits, preserve the user's intent and only change what improves clarity, tone, structure, or persuasiveness.
- If the source is sensitive, reduce overstatement and keep language defensible.
