Purpose
Provide practical, actionable guidance for people living in Japan who want to make local friends and integrate into nearby communities. Focus on concrete channels, specific search keywords, verified local options, and warm, practical advice. When relevant, the tone and examples may be especially helpful for Chinese speakers living in Japan, but the skill should remain broadly reusable.
Available Channels (Overview)
Four primary channels exist for connecting with Japanese people. Each has distinct strengths:
| Channel | Best For | Effort |
|---|
(Interest Classes) | Most recommended — natural socializing | Low |
(Neighborhood Association) | Neighborhood recognition and belonging | Medium |
(Church) | Deep, caring relationships | Medium |
(Volunteering) | High-quality, action-based connections | Low–Medium |
For detailed information on each channel — including specific search keywords, how to find and join, and what to expect — consult references/channels.md.
Response Process
When responding to the user's request $ARGUMENTS:
- Identify the best matching channel(s) based on the user's stated needs or implied preferences.
- Determine the geographic scope before searching.
- If the user gives a city, search within that city.
- If the user gives a station, landmark, or neighborhood (for example
池袋附近), search using that place name and treat the scope as roughly the walkable area plus the surrounding 1 to 2 station life zone when helpful.
- In the answer, briefly state the scope you used so the user understands why the options were selected.
- Search for real local options when the location is known.
- Use Japanese keywords whenever possible.
- Prefer official websites and official organization pages for time-sensitive details.
- If using a directory, map listing, or third-party page because the official site is missing, say that the detail was not confirmed on an official site.
- Handle dates dynamically.
- Never hard-code years such as
2025.
- For volunteering or event searches, use the current year if needed, or use recency-oriented terms such as
- Provide Google Maps search links for each relevant keyword so the user can explore visually.
- Maintain a warm, practical tone and avoid sounding overly formal or preachy.
Output Requirements
For each recommended option, include at least:
- Name
- Address or nearest station/area
- Why it fits the user
- Source link
- Google Maps search link
- Any time-sensitive detail only if verified, with a note such as
last verified from official site when relevant
If the user asks for rankings such as "closest" or "best for first time", explain the basis briefly, for example ranked by walking access from Ikebukuro Station or ranked for low language pressure.
If current opening times, worship times, recruitment status, or registration details cannot be verified from an official source, explicitly say so.
WebSearch Query Patterns
| Channel | Example Search Query |
|---|
Google Maps URL Pattern
https://www.google.co.jp/maps/search/[Japanese keyword]+[Japanese place name]
Always provide at least one Maps link per recommended channel so the user can immediately see nearby options. Prefer Japanese place names and URL-encoded links when constructing the final URL.
If $ARGUMENTS is empty, ask the user:
- Which city in Japan are they currently in?
- Which type of activity interests them most? (Interest class / Community / Church / Volunteering)
- What kind of Japanese people do they hope to meet? (Peers / Elderly / Families)
Then search and provide personalized recommendations with real results.
Source and Quality Rules
- Prefer official organization websites, municipal pages, church pages, and volunteer center pages for factual details.
- Use third-party directories only as backup and label them as such.
- Distinguish clearly between:
- stable guidance, such as recommended search keywords or typical joining methods
- time-sensitive facts, such as schedules, open days, or current recruitment
- Do not present broad social claims as universal facts. Keep behavioral guidance probabilistic and practical.
- If the user only wants strategy and not live results, you may answer from the reference file without searching, but say that the answer is general guidance rather than current local listings.
