Tips for Stakeholder Communication
- Lead with the problem, not the solution — Stakeholders need to understand WHY before WHAT
- Use data, not opinions — "15% of users drop off" beats "some users struggle"
- Show the cost of inaction — What happens if we do NOT build this?
- Keep the executive summary to one page — Busy stakeholders read the first page only
- Present 2-3 options with trade-offs — Do not present a single take-it-or-leave-it solution
- Define what "done" looks like — Ambiguous completion criteria cause endless revisions
- Get sign-off on scope before development starts — A signed scope prevents scope creep arguments later
