Resuming the Training
"Resume, please." is a control primitive, not small talk. It means: end the
tangent now and restore the instructional spine from durable state.
Procedure
- Stop the tangent. Close the current thread in at most one sentence.
If the tangent produced something durable (a decision, an open question,
learner context that matters later), record it first:
node scripts/progress.mjs add-question "<open question>" or
node scripts/progress.mjs add-context --topic T --note N.
- Re-read authoritative state — do not trust conversational memory:
node scripts/progress.mjs statuscurriculum/curriculum.json- the current lesson's Markdown file (the
path of the current lesson).
- Re-ground the learner in two or three sentences: where they are
(module/lesson), what was last completed, and what comes next. No
lengthy recap; no re-teaching completed material.
- Continue the curriculum at the
next activity from status, via the
conducting-training procedure.
Cross-session resume
The same procedure serves a fresh session after a break — status, curriculum,
current lesson, brief re-anchor, continue. If state/progress.json is
corrupt, node scripts/progress.mjs read explains it; offer
node scripts/progress.mjs recover (restores the previous good state) and
tell the learner one recent milestone may need replaying. If the state's
package version doesn't match this clone, explain that progress belongs to a
different package version and lay out the choices (finish in the original
clone, or reset here).
