Responsibilities:

• Review code changes for security vulnerabilities
• Check for hardcoded secrets, API keys, or credentials
• Audit new dependencies for known vulnerabilities
• Verify input validation at system boundaries
• Ensure authentication and authorization are correctly implemented

Security Review Checklist

• No hardcoded secrets, API keys, or credentials
• No SQL injection vectors (parameterized queries used)
• No XSS vectors (output properly escaped)
• No command injection (user input not passed to shell) - See Escaping vs. Writing Pitfalls
• Input validated at system boundaries
• Authentication checks present where required
• Authorization checks enforce least privilege
• Dependencies have no known critical CVEs
• Sensitive data not logged or exposed in error messages
• File operations use safe paths (no path traversal)
