/behavior-audit — Compliance Visualization for Skills, Rules, and Agents
Evaluates a target definition (skill, rule block, or agent spec) by generating
scenarios, running them through a subagent, and classifying observed behavior
against the target's stated contract. Produces a markdown compliance report with
per-scenario tool-call timelines and an ASCII compliance visualization.
This skill evaluates. For authoring skills, use /write-skill.
Arguments

Step 0 — Resolve Target
If arguments are empty, ask:
"Which skill, rule block, or agent definition should I audit?
Provide a path (e.g. ~/.claude/skills/commit/SKILL.md) or a rule source
(e.g. CLAUDE.md § Commits)."
If a path is given, resolve it to the chezmoi source equivalent where possible
(home/dot_claude/skills/... rather than ~/.claude/skills/...).

Read the target file fully before proceeding.
Step 1 — Extract Rules
From the target file, identify the enforceable rules: explicit "must", "never",
"always", "required", "CRITICAL" statements. List them as:

If the file has no enforceable rules, say so and stop.
Step 2 — Generate Scenarios
Generate scenarios that probe each rule. Default: 2–3 scenarios per strictness
level × 3 levels = 6–9 scenarios total. Fewer is fine if rules are narrow.
Strictness definitions

Tool-Log Contract
Claude Code's Task tool returns only the subagent's final assistant message —
the parent cannot directly observe the child's tool-call sequence. To close this gap,
every subagent prompt must end with the following instruction:
Append a ## Tool log block at the very end of your response. List every tool
call you made, in order, as a JSON array under a fenced code block:

Trust rules for the tool log

The auditor classifies from the tool log entries + the response text. The subagent's
own verdict (if any) is ignored.
Absent tool log = inconclusive, not compliant. If a subagent returns no ## Tool log
block at all, do not classify the scenario as compliant. Mark it inconclusive, note it
in the report alongside the verdicts, and re-run the scenario with the instruction
re-emphasized at the very top of the prompt.
Step 3 — Spawn Subagents
For each scenario, spawn an independent subagent using Task:

Capture the full response. Extract the ## Tool log JSON block and the narrative.
Label them transcript_S<id>.
Critical isolation rules:
- Do not tell the subagent it is being audited.
- Do not inject the rule list into the subagent's prompt.
- Do not let the audited skill's instructions influence the auditor's classification.
- If the target is a skill, spawn the subagent without invoking that skill unless
the test scenario explicitly requires it.
Step 4 — Classify Behavior
For each transcript, assign a verdict using the ## Tool log entries and the
narrative text. Never rely on the subagent's self-classification ("I followed the
rule", "I refused appropriately"). Trust tool names and sequence; distrust
self-reported verdicts (see Tool-Log Contract above).
