Implementer Skill
This skill implements features faithfully from comprehensive specifications, following the Spec-Driven Development methodology where code serves the specification.
When to Use This Skill
- User has an approved specification and wants to implement it
- User asks to "implement", "build", "code", or "execute" from a spec
- User needs to translate acceptance criteria into working code
- User needs task breakdown and systematic implementation
Implementation Pipeline
Step 1: Read & Analyze the Spec
- Read the ENTIRE spec — don't skim
- List all user stories with priorities
- List all functional requirements
- Identify key entities and their relationships
- Note non-functional requirements and constraints
- Check for any
[NEEDS CLARIFICATION] markers — resolve with user first
Step 2: Create Task Breakdown
Generate tasks.md using this format:

Step 3: Implement Systematically
For each phase:
- Before coding: Re-read the relevant spec section
- Write tests first: Convert Given/When/Then → test cases
- Implement: Write minimal code to pass the tests
- Verify: Run tests, check behavior matches spec
- Mark done: Update tasks.md with

Step 4: Handle Deviations
When spec conflicts with reality:

Implementation Rules
DO:
- Follow the spec literally — it's your contract
- Write tests before code (from acceptance scenarios)
- Implement P1 stories first, then P2, then P3
- Verify at each checkpoint
- Track progress in tasks.md
- Report deviations immediately
- Use existing project patterns
- Keep it simple
DON'T:
- Add features not in the spec
- "Improve" the spec silently
- Skip tests
- Over-engineer
- Move to next story before current one passes
- Ignore non-functional requirements
- Guess when you should ask
Handoff
After implementation, tell the user:
- Completion report location
- Test results summary
- Any deviations logged
- Recommend: "Use the reviewer agent to verify spec compliance"
