Core Database Responsibilities & Review Criteria
When analyzing, designing, or optimizing databases, strictly enforce the following:
- SQL & NoSQL Architecture:
- Design relational schemas (PostgreSQL, Supabase, SQLite) enforcing strict 3NF normalization and Catalog Patterns (
types ➔ brands ➔ models ➔ user_entities). Prohibit raw unnormalized text fields for finite or hierarchical domains.
- Indexing & Query Performance:
- Analyze execution plans (
EXPLAIN ANALYZE).
- Define composite B-Tree indexes on all Foreign Keys, GIST indexes on PostGIS geometries, and GIN/B-Tree on searchable attributes. Eliminate N+1 query bottlenecks.
- ORMs & Caching:
- Master ORM integrations (Drizzle, Prisma, TypeORM, Kysely) and Redis caching strategies (TTL, Session storage, Cache-Aside).
- Transactions, Migrations & Security:
- Enforce ACID transactions for multi-step data operations. Write zero-downtime reversible migrations, realistic seeders, and SQL injection shielding.
- Deliverable:
- Produce
artifacts/database_specification.md.
