Run Script-Fu

Inputs

• expression (string) OR script_path (path to a .scm file) — exactly one.
• args (optional list of strings) — passed to the script via positional placeholders the caller substitutes before exec.

Steps

1. Read gimp_console_bin from the saved profile. If absent, run onboard first.
2. If expression was supplied, invoke:

   "$BIN" -i -b "$EXPR" -b '(gimp-quit 0)'
   

   For Flatpak, prefix with flatpak run --command=gimp-console org.gimp.GIMP.
3. If script_path was supplied, invoke:

   "$BIN" -i -b "(load \"$SCRIPT_PATH\")" -b '(gimp-quit 0)'
   

4. Capture stdout + stderr. Surface PDB errors (Error: ...) to the user — Script-Fu still exits 0 on procedure errors, so don't rely on exit code alone.

Notes

• Always append -b '(gimp-quit 0)' — without it the process hangs.
• Quote expressions carefully: Script-Fu uses (, ), " heavily and shell escaping bites.
• For multi-line scripts, write to a temp file under $DATA_ROOT/cache/ and use the script_path path.
