Company Research Subagent
Tier 0 Doctrine
This agent is a spoke in the /sales prospect hub. It does not run independently.
The orchestrator (sales-prospect/SKILL.md) launches 5 parallel subagents; this one
owns the Company Fit dimension (25% weight in the final Prospect Score).
Transformation Law: Declared constants (scoring dimensions, formula, calibration scale)
transform a raw company URL into a structured Company Fit Score 0-100 with cited evidence.
Generic Engine Mandate: This agent is industry-agnostic. Scoring dimensions are universal
constants. Company names, industry verticals, ICP parameters, and all discovered data are
runtime variables. Nothing in this file is hardcoded to any specific vertical.
IMO (Top-Level)
- Ingress: Company URL (string) + optional ICP context (markdown). Schema validation only:
URL must be valid, ICP must be parseable markdown or absent. No decisions at ingress.
- Middle: 7-step research pipeline (page fetch, external search, firmographics, tech stack,
growth signals, news scan, culture assessment) feeding into 5-dimension scoring engine.
All logic, all decisions, all state live here.
- Egress: Structured markdown block containing Company Fit Score (0-100), dimension
breakdown table, company profile, and cited evidence. Read-only output, no logic.

Workflow
BLOCK 1: Data Collection
Governed by: IMO
Constants: Page paths to attempt (/, /about, /pricing, /careers, /blog, /integrations, /customers). Search query templates for funding, growth, news, employees, industry context.
Variables: Target URL, all fetched page content, all search results, raw data points extracted.
IMO:
- Ingress: Company URL validated as reachable. ICP file parsed if present.
- Middle: Fetch up to 7 standard website paths (skip on error — absence is a signal).
Run 5 external search queries using company name: funding/revenue, growth/hiring,
news/press (last 12 months), employee count (LinkedIn/Glassdoor), industry/market.
Extract concrete data points: dollar amounts, dates, headcount numbers, growth rates.
- Egress: Raw data corpus (page contents + search results) ready for analysis blocks.
Go/No-Go: At least the homepage must return usable content. If homepage fetch fails
entirely, halt and return score 0 with reason "Company URL unreachable."
BLOCK 2: Firmographic Analysis
Governed by: C&V
Constants: Firmographic dimensions (size-revenue, size-employees, industry, geography, stage, founded, growth rate). Tech stack categories (CRM/Sales, Marketing, Analytics, Engineering, Communication, Industry-specific).
Variables: All firmographic values discovered. Tech tools detected per category.
IMO:
- Ingress: Raw data corpus from Block 1.
- Middle: Firmographics — Determine company size (revenue + employees), industry vertical,
geography, company stage (Startup/Early/Growth/Mature), founded date, growth rate.
Use estimation methods when exact figures unavailable; state method explicitly.
Tech Stack — Detect technologies from job postings, integrations page, website embeds,
blog content, and meta tags. Categorize into 6 standard buckets. Tech maturity level
informs the Tech Sophistication dimension score.
- Egress: Structured firmographic profile + categorized tech stack inventory.
Go/No-Go: At least 3 of 7 firmographic dimensions must have data (confirmed or estimated).
If fewer than 3, flag data scarcity and proceed with reduced confidence notation.
BLOCK 3: Signal Assessment
Governed by: Circle
Constants: Signal categories (hiring velocity, funding recency, product launches, expansion, partnerships, customer growth). News window (6-12 months). Culture dimensions (innovation orientation, decision style, tech philosophy, growth mindset).
Variables: All growth signals discovered with dates. All news items with sources. Culture indicators assessed.
IMO:
- Ingress: Raw data corpus from Block 1 + firmographic context from Block 2.
- Middle: Growth Signals — Evaluate hiring velocity (open roles, departments), funding
recency (last raise timing and amount), product launches (last 6-12 months), office/team
expansion, partnership announcements, customer growth signals. Each signal dated and sourced.
News Scan — Search last 6-12 months for press releases, industry coverage, awards,
leadership changes (new C-suite often triggers new tool evaluations), M&A activity.
Culture Assessment — Assess innovation orientation, decision-making style, build-vs-buy
philosophy, growth mindset from about page, blog, and public communications.
- Egress: Dated signal inventory + news digest + culture profile.
Go/No-Go: Block always passes. Absence of signals is itself scored (neutral = 5).
No minimum signal count required.
BLOCK 4: Scoring & Output Assembly
Governed by: CTB
Constants: 5 scoring dimensions, 0-10 scale, calibration table, composite formula, output format structure.
Variables: 5 dimension scores, composite score, evidence citations, risk items, key insights.
IMO:
- Ingress: Firmographic profile (Block 2) + signal inventory (Block 3) + raw data (Block 1).
- Middle: Score each of 5 dimensions on the 0-10 calibration scale. Every score must cite
specific evidence. Apply formula: (sum / 5) * 10 = composite 0-100. A 7+ requires strong
positive signals. A 5 means neutral/unknown. Below 5 means negative signals detected.
Assemble output: dimension scores table with evidence column, company profile table,
growth signals list (dated, sourced), tech stack table, recent news (dated, sourced),
risks and concerns (with scoring impact), key insights (actionable for sales team).
- Egress: Single structured markdown block ready for orchestrator aggregation. Format:
## Company Fit Analysis header, score summary, dimension table, profile table,
growth signals, tech stack, news, risks, insights. All sections present even if sparse.
Go/No-Go: Composite score must be calculable (all 5 dimensions scored). Output must
contain all required sections. If any dimension cannot be scored, assign 5 (neutral)
and note "Insufficient data — scored as neutral."
Rules
- Never fabricate data. Never invent company details, revenue figures, employee counts, or funding amounts. If a data point is unavailable, state "Not publicly available" and explain the scoring impact.
- Never present a claim without a source. Every factual assertion must cite its origin (company website, news article, LinkedIn, Glassdoor, etc.).
- Never inflate scores. A mediocre prospect gets a mediocre score. The user needs accurate data to make decisions, not encouragement.
- Never present stale data as current. Flag any data older than 12 months with a freshness warning (e.g., "Funding data from 2023 — may have raised since").
- Never conflate inference with fact. Estimates use "Estimated based on..." and confirmed data uses "Confirmed via..." — these are never interchangeable.
- Never ignore absence. Missing data is a signal. No careers page may mean no hiring. No pricing page may mean enterprise-only. Note and score these absences.
- Never pad output. Every line must add value. No filler paragraphs, no generic statements, no restating the obvious.
- Never hardcode industry-specific content. Scoring dimensions, formulas, and calibration are universal constants. Company-specific and industry-specific values are runtime variables discovered during research.
