Recommended Workflow

Standard flow for handling a user request

1. Identify the user's need:

   • Same Wi-Fi → LAN connection
   • Cross-network → Tailscale
   • Server deployment → systemd/LaunchAgent

2. Guide the user to the settings UI:

   • Tell the user explicitly how to open the settings UI:
     • "Click the settings icon (gear icon) in the lower-left corner of Wayland"
     • "In the settings menu, click the 'WebUI' option"
     • "You'll land on the WebUI configuration screen"

3. Walk through the configuration steps:

   • Step 1: Tell the user to "toggle the 'Enable WebUI' switch to on"
   • Step 2: If remote access is needed, tell the user to "toggle the 'Allow remote access' switch to on"
   • Step 3: Tell the user to "wait for the service to finish starting; the UI will show the '✓ Running' status"

4. Guide them to the access information:

   • Tell the user they can find the following in the settings UI:
     • Access addresses: Local address and network address (click to copy)
     • Login credentials: Username (admin) and password (click to copy)
     • QR code login: If remote access is enabled, a QR code is available for quick sign-in

Opening the settings UI

"Follow these steps to open the WebUI settings screen:

2. In the settings menu, click the 'WebUI' option

Enabling WebUI

"On the WebUI settings screen:

1. Find the 'Enable WebUI' switch
2. Toggle the switch to on
3. After a few seconds, once the WebUI service has started, it will show the '✓ Running' status"

Enabling remote access

"If you need remote access:

1. Under 'Allow remote access', toggle the switch to on
2. If the WebUI is already running, the system will restart it automatically to apply the new setting"

Getting the access information

"Once WebUI is running, you'll see the following in the settings UI:

1. Access addresses:

   • Local access: http://localhost:25808 (this machine only)
   • Network access: http://<LAN-IP>:25808 (when remote access is enabled)
   • Click the copy icon next to an address to copy it

2. Login credentials:

   • Username: admin (click the copy icon next to it to copy)
   • Password: The initial password is shown on first launch (click the copy icon next to it to copy)
   • If the password is hidden, click the reset icon next to it to reset the password and reveal the new one

3. QR code login (when remote access is enabled):

   • Scan the QR code with your phone to sign in automatically in the mobile browser
   • The QR code is valid for 5 minutes; click 'Refresh QR code' once it expires"

Important Notes

• Default port: 25808 (configurable via the config file)
• Default username: admin
• Initial password: Shown in the settings UI on first launch; click to copy
• Configuration method: All configuration is done through the settings UI - do not use the command line
• Security: For remote access, use Tailscale or configure a firewall
