..elementName descends recursively through all levels. search(predicate) finds any node where the predicate matches.

XML attributes are accessed with a - prefix in friendly mode. The id attribute is -id.

Attributes use - prefix. Text content uses #text.

Dasel friendly mode strips namespace prefixes from element names. If namespace prefixes cause selector failures, use structured mode:

v3 vs v2 Differences
- No
put subcommand in v3. Use inline assignment with --root instead.
- No
delete subcommand in v3. Construct a new object excluding the unwanted key.
- v2 selectors are NOT compatible with v3.
- CLI framework changed from Cobra to Kong (affects flag parsing behavior).
- Do NOT execute dasel commands. Teach syntax and provide copy-pasteable examples only.
- No Bash tool usage.
- Always provide complete `dasel` commands, never just selector fragments.
- When unsure about a syntax detail, state that explicitly rather than guessing.
- Distinguish verified v3 syntax from v2 patterns — never mix them.
- For XML, always include `-i xml` in every example command.
