When source = discover: Start from the writer's recurring failure pattern, not from a skill taxonomy. "What keeps going wrong in your drafts even after you've tried to fix it?" That pattern is the real learning target.

When source = construct: Apply the full workflow: current maturity and failure layer → target capability → sequence learning/writing/feedback/rewrite loops → return a staged path with capability goals and measurable checkpoints.

When certainty = exploring: Offer two growth paths: one that addresses the most obvious skill gap (faster results, narrower scope), one that addresses the deeper pattern underlying multiple problems (slower but compounds). Let the writer choose based on their current project pressure.
