Quarterly Rock Planning
Rock Setting Process (every 90 days)
- Review last quarter — which Rocks were completed? What's still open?
- Review the 1-Year Plan — what needs to happen this quarter to stay on track?
- Identify top priorities — what are the 3–7 most important things to accomplish?
- Write SMART Rocks — each Rock must be: Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, Timely
- Assign owners — every Rock has one owner (typically Quinn or a team member)
- Set milestones — break each Rock into monthly check-ins
Rock Format
Rock: [Clear, action-oriented title]
Owner: Quinn / [Name]
Due: [End of quarter date]
Milestone 1 (Month 1): [Specific checkpoint]
Milestone 2 (Month 2): [Specific checkpoint]
Done When: [Clear completion criteria]
Current Quarter Focus Areas (typical for ProActive Investments)
- Deal volume targets (# of acquisitions, dispositions)
- Rehab pipeline completion milestones
- Marketing/lead generation systems
- Team/VA hiring or process improvements
- Financial reserves and capital deployment
10-Year Target
Think big. ProActive Investments' empire-building vision typically includes:
- Portfolio size — number of rental properties owned
- Wholesale volume — # of wholesale deals per year / total revenue
- Geographic expansion — expansion beyond North Florida
- Brand/team — building a recognized regional investment brand
- Wealth target — net worth / passive income goals
When helping Quinn build or refine the 10-year target:
- Ask: "Where do you want ProActive to be in 10 years? What does your ideal day look like?"
- Help quantify: revenue, properties, team size, geographic footprint
- Make it vivid and inspiring — this is the BHAG that drives daily decisions
3-Year Picture
More concrete than the 10-year target. Key questions to answer:
- What is our revenue in 3 years?
- What is our profit?
- How many people on our team?
- What does our deal pipeline look like?
- What systems and processes are in place?
- What does Quinn's role look like — is he in or on the business?
1-Year Plan
Three to seven specific, measurable goals for the next 12 months. For ProActive Investments, typical goals include:
- Revenue target (wholesale fees + rental income)
-
of acquisitions
-
of rehabs completed
-
of rentals in portfolio
- Team/VA additions
- System implementations (CRM, project management)
Vision Sessions
When Quinn asks for a vision or strategic planning session:
Step 1: Pull up the current V/TO from Google Drive
Step 2: Review where the business is today (current Rocks, scorecard)
Step 3: Ask the Big 3:
- "What's working that we should do more of?"
- "What's not working that we should stop or fix?"
- "What opportunities are we not pursuing that we should be?"
Step 4: Update the V/TO based on the conversation
Step 5: Identify the next Quarterly Rocks
Step 6: Save the updated V/TO to Drive
