Install GIMP Plugin

Inputs

• source — local path or URL to a .scm, .py, or compiled binary
• kind — auto-detected from extension if omitted: script-fu (.scm), python-fu (.py), binary (no extension or executable)

Steps

1. Read scripts_dir and plug_ins_dir from the saved profile.
2. Resolve destination:
   • script-fu → <scripts_dir>/
   • python-fu → <plug_ins_dir>/<basename>/<basename>.py (GIMP 2.10 expects each plugin in its own subdir; on 3.0 the layout is similar but uses GObject Introspection)
   • binary → <plug_ins_dir>/<basename>/, chmod +x
3. If source is a URL, download to $DATA_ROOT/cache/ first and verify it's the expected type.
4. Copy into place. For Python-Fu / binary plugins, ensure executable bit is set.
5. Prompt the user to restart GIMP (or run Filters → Script-Fu → Refresh Scripts in the GUI for .scm only — Python and binary plugins require a restart).

Notes

• Flatpak GIMP looks at ~/.var/app/org.gimp.GIMP/config/GIMP/<ver>/ instead — the profile's config_dir already accounts for this if onboard detected Flatpak.
• Don't auto-install plugins from arbitrary URLs without showing the user the source first. Script-Fu and Python-Fu run with full user privileges.
