SkyyRose Social — Social Media Policy
When to Use This Skill
- Writing or revising the formal SkyyRose Social Media Policy for brand accounts and any team representative
- Defining who is authorized to post from official SkyyRose accounts (Instagram, TikTok, X, Pinterest)
- Documenting brand voice standards and platform-specific tone rules for any collaborator or community champion
- Creating the content approval workflow for announcements, drops, and sensitive topics
- Building the crisis escalation protocol for social media incidents
- Documenting FTC and legal compliance requirements for sponsored content and partnerships
DO NOT use this for creating social content (use skyyrose-content-engine), for community moderation rules (use skyyrose-social-community-moderation), or for the public-facing community guidelines (use skyyrose-social-platform-community-guidelines). This is a governance document for internal and team use.
Brand Canon (non-negotiable)
- Tagline (exact):
Luxury Grows from Concrete. — this is the only tagline. Anyone posting on behalf of SkyyRose must use it verbatim when referencing the brand positioning. Never "grown from concrete," never "luxury from the streets."
- Voice guardrails: Oakland-direct, earned, unhurried. The brand does not hype. Any post that reads like a hype-merchant wrote it violates this policy.
- No urgency manipulation. Scarcity statements must be factual ("limited to pre-order run of 250") — never fake countdown pressure. Anyone posting urgency timers violates this policy.
- Products by name, not SKU. Any team member or partner who references a SkyyRose product in a post must use the product name (e.g., "BLACK Rose Crewneck"), not a SKU code.
- Collection voice boundaries. Team members posting collection-specific content must use the correct register: Black Rose = armor, defiance; Love Hurts = raw passion, the bloodline; Signature = standard, West Coast pride; Kids Capsule = little royalty, heritage. Cross-attribution is a brand violation.

Artifact specification
The output of this skill is a complete, publication-ready SkyyRose Social Media Policy document. It must include all sections below, in order, at the specified detail level. The document is internal — not published publicly, but shared with every team member, community champion, and collaborator who represents the brand.
Section 1: Purpose & Scope
Length: 2-3 paragraphs.
Content:
- Why this policy exists: to protect the brand, the community, and everyone who represents it
- Who it applies to: Corey Foster, anyone with access to official SkyyRose accounts, community champions, influencer partners, and contractors posting on behalf of SkyyRose
- What it covers: official brand accounts AND any content where someone explicitly references or represents SkyyRose
- Effective date and annual review commitment
Voice: Direct. This is an internal document, not marketing copy. Corey's voice — plain, specific, no preamble.
Section 2: Brand Voice Standards
Format: Overview table + per-platform tone guidance.
Voice Identity
| We Are | We Are NOT |
|---|
| Earned, direct, Oakland-specific | Hype-merchant, generic streetwear-brand noise |
| Confident in the craft | Defensive or promotional about quality |
| Community-rooted | Corporate-distant |
| Quietly premium (Fear of God energy, Oaklandish authenticity) | Loudly luxury (European fashion house posturing) |
| Specific about products and stories | Vague aspirational filler |
Per-Platform Tone
| Platform | Tone Adjustment |
|---|
| Instagram Feed | Editorial, visual-first. Caption tells the product's story. 150-300 words. Hook before the fold. |
| Instagram Reels/Stories | Conversational, behind-the-scenes energy. Corey's natural voice when speaking. |
| TikTok | Most casual and raw. Founder energy. Real production footage, honest commentary. |
| X / Twitter | Concise, opinionated, Oakland-direct. Hot takes on craft and culture. Not customer service. |
| Pinterest | Silent — keyword-rich descriptions, no voice personality required. Product and lifestyle boards. |
Topics we engage with: Drop announcements, behind-the-scenes production, Oakland culture and landmarks, customer fit pics (with permission), brand story and founder perspective, fashion industry takes.
Topics we avoid: Politics (outside Oakland/Black culture advocacy, which is foundational to the brand), competitor attacks, internal drama, fake urgency, anything that reads as manufactured hype.
Section 3: Authorized Accounts & Access
Format: Access table + access management rules.
## Official SkyyRose Accounts
| Platform | Handle | Authorized Posters | Access Level |
|------------|--------------------|-----------------------------|-----------------|
| Instagram | @skyyroseco | Corey Foster, [social lead] | Full |
| TikTok | @skyyroseco | Corey Foster, [social lead] | Full |
| X | @skyyroseco | Corey Foster | Full |
| Pinterest | SkyyRoseCollection | [social lead] | Content posting |
| Discord | The Concrete Garden| Corey + Community Champions | Mod + posting |
Access Management:
- All account credentials stored in [password manager — e.g., 1Password], accessible to Corey only by default
- Contractors and collaborators receive app-level access (e.g., Buffer, Later) — never direct credential access
- Access is revoked within 24 hours when a team member's involvement ends
- Two-factor authentication enabled on all accounts
- Any unauthorized account claiming to be SkyyRose is reported to the platform immediately
Section 4: Content Approval Workflow
Format: Approval matrix table + workflow description.
## Content Approval Matrix
| Content Type | Approval Required | Approver | Timeline |
|-------------------------------------|--------------------|-----------------------|-------------------|
| Routine planned posts (feed/stories)| Batch review | Corey (weekly) | 48 hours advance |
| Drop announcements | Individual review | Corey | 72 hours advance |
| Community responses (comments/DMs) | No approval needed | Follow voice guide | Same day |
| Partnership / sponsored content | Full review | Corey + legal if $5k+ | 1 week advance |
| Crisis or sensitive topic response | Immediate review | Corey | Within 1 hour |
| Trend participation / reaction posts| Quick approval | Corey via DM | Within 4 hours |
## Workflow
1. Content creator drafts post in shared content calendar ([tool — e.g., Notion, Loom])
2. Corey reviews and approves / requests revision in the same tool
3. Approved content published via [scheduler tool — e.g., Later, Buffer]
4. All published posts logged with date, platform, and performance notes
Section 5: Community Champion & Collaborator Rules
Format: Rules list + what collaborators must never do.
Community champions (moderators in The Concrete Garden) and brand collaborators who post about SkyyRose are bound by the same voice standards as the brand team. In addition:
Champions MUST:
- Disclose their community champion role when discussing SkyyRose online: "I moderate The Concrete Garden community for SkyyRose"
- Post in the correct collection register if referencing a specific collection
- Refer to products by name (e.g., "BLACK Rose Crewneck"), not by SKU
- Escalate any public negative attention or controversy about the brand to Corey immediately
Champions MUST NOT:
- Post drop information or pre-order windows before the public launch date
- Represent SkyyRose positions on topics not explicitly covered by the brand (politics, controversies outside the brand's scope)
- Accept payment or gifts to post about SkyyRose without written disclosure to Corey first
- Use urgency manipulation language ("DROP NOW 🔥 LAST CHANCE") even in a personal capacity when it references SkyyRose products
- Cross-attribute collection voice (e.g., using Love Hurts language to promote a Black Rose product)
Influencer partners and paid collaborators are bound by a separate Brand Partnership Agreement that references this policy.
Section 6: Crisis Communication Protocol
Format: Crisis levels table + step-by-step response protocol + holding statement template.
## What Qualifies as a Social Media Crisis
| Level | Trigger | Response Time |
|-------|------------------------------------------------------------------|---------------|
| L1 | Single negative review or complaint with limited spread | 24 hours |
| L2 | Social thread gaining traction (50+ engagements); service issue | 4-8 hours |
| L3 | Viral negative attention; media coverage; shipping or product failure affecting 10+ customers | 1-2 hours |
| L4 | Brand-level reputation crisis (Corey statement required); cultural incident | Immediate |
## Crisis Response Steps
1. PAUSE — stop all scheduled posts across all platforms immediately
2. ASSESS — gather the facts before responding (who is affected, what happened,
what is the current public exposure)
3. ESCALATE — notify Corey within 1 hour for any L2+ incident
4. DRAFT — prepare a response using the formula below
5. APPROVE — Corey approves every public response before it posts
6. RESPOND — post the approved response; do not respond in DMs to critics
before the public statement is live
7. MONITOR — track the conversation every 2 hours for 48-72 hours
8. DEBRIEF — after resolution, document what happened, how we responded, and
what changes to process or product are needed
## Response Formula (every crisis)
1. Acknowledge what happened (no minimizing or corporate deflection)
2. Express genuine empathy (not performative)
3. State what we are doing about it
4. Commit to a follow-up with a specific timeline
## Holding Statement Template
"We're aware of [issue]. We're looking into it now and will share a full update
within [timeframe]. If you're affected, reach out directly at [email/DM channel].
— SkyyRose"
Note: "soon" is not a timeline. Specify hours.
Section 7: Legal & FTC Compliance
Format: Requirements list with plain explanations.
## Compliance Requirements
Sponsored content & partnerships:
All paid partnerships, gifted products, and affiliate arrangements must be
disclosed clearly at the start of the post — not buried in hashtags.
Required disclosure: "#ad" or "Paid partnership with SkyyRose" as the first
line, not the fifteenth hashtag. FTC non-compliance is a brand and legal risk.
Copyright:
Do not use music, imagery, or text in posts without proper rights or licenses.
TikTok and Reels audio: use only TikTok/Instagram licensed audio library or
commercially licensed tracks. Screenshots or reposts of customer content require
explicit permission (DM confirmation counts; document it).
Customer privacy:
Never share customer names, contact information, order details, or photos
without explicit consent. Fit-pic reposts require the customer's affirmative
permission in writing (DM or email). Document permissions.
Contest & giveaway rules:
Any giveaway must include official rules posted to skyyrose.co, comply with
platform terms, and exclude prohibited jurisdictions. Consult Corey before
announcing any giveaway.
Trademark:
Use ® where required. Do not use other brands' trademarks without permission.
When referencing The Five (Kith, Oaklandish, Culture Kings, Fear of God, Palm
Angels) as visual references or inspirations, use factual, non-disparaging
framing only.
Section 8: Enforcement
Format: Graduated consequences + process.
## Enforcement
Minor violation (first offense — voice drift, unapproved post, tone mismatch):
Conversation, coaching, and review of this policy together.
Repeat or moderate violation (second offense, or unauthorized drop leak):
Written warning. Temporary removal of posting access pending review.
Serious violation (confidential info posted, urgency manipulation, false
product claims, FTC non-compliance):
Immediate removal of all posting access. Legal review if applicable.
Public correction post if the violation caused public confusion.
All team members and community champions must sign the Policy Acknowledgment
below before receiving any form of posting access.
Section 9: Policy Acknowledgment
## Acknowledgment
I have read and understood the SkyyRose Social Media Policy. I agree to follow
these guidelines in all social media activity related to SkyyRose, The Skyy Rose
Collection, and The Concrete Garden.
Name: _______________________________
Role: _______________________________
Signature: __________________________
Date: _______________________________
Annual review date: __________________
Output Format Requirements
| Format | Specification |
|---|
| Internal doc (primary) | Notion page or Google Doc. Shared with view access to all team members, edit access to Corey only. |
| One-page quick reference | PDF summary of the 10 most critical rules. Printed or pinned in team Slack/Notion. |
| Acknowledgment form | Separate PDF or Google Form. All team members sign before account access is granted. |
Example: Policy Applied During a Signature Collection Drop
Scenario: A community champion posts on their personal Instagram: "The Signature Collection is officially dropping next Friday — pre-order opens at 8am PST 🔥 Don't miss it!!" — two days before the public announcement date.
Policy violations:
- Drop information posted before public launch date (Section 5: Champions MUST NOT)
- Urgency manipulation language ("Don't miss it!! 🔥") (Section 2: Voice Standards)
- No Corey approval for a drop announcement (Section 4: Approval Workflow)
Response: Champion is notified immediately. Post is deleted (they own their personal account — they delete it; if they refuse, their champion role and community access are revoked). Formal warning issued per Section 8. Future posting on behalf of the brand requires 48-hour advance review. Signature Collection pre-order timing is assessed for whether it leaked to outside parties.
Signature Collection voice check: This collection's register is "stay golden," West Coast luxury, standard-setting. Even a properly timed announcement should carry that register — not "🔥 DON'T MISS IT 🔥."
Anti-Patterns
- Policy that only covers official accounts — a community champion's personal post that leaks drop information is a brand crisis regardless of the account it came from. Scope must include all representatives.
- "Use good judgment" as a voice guideline — that phrase is meaningless without examples. The voice table and the anti-voice list in Section 2 replace "good judgment" with specific, enforceable standards.
- No crisis plan until one is needed — every brand encounters a social media crisis. A Love Hurts pre-order shipping delay hitting during peak season is a near-certainty. Plan the response before the crisis, not during it.
- FTC compliance buried in a footnote — paid partnership and gifting disclosures are legal requirements, not brand preferences. They warrant their own section and explicit team training.
- Never distributing the policy — a policy that team members haven't read and signed is theatre. The acknowledgment process is non-negotiable.
- Hype language in the approved voice — if the brand voice table doesn't explicitly exclude "🔥🔥 DON'T MISS OUT" energy, someone will use it. It must be named and prohibited.
- No annual review date — social media platforms change; brand voice evolves; FTC rules update. A policy without a review schedule becomes stale and misleading.
- Using "soon" as a crisis response timeline — "We'll share more information soon" is the single most trust-destroying phrase in a crisis. Every public commitment includes a specific time window.
Recovery
- An incident already happened before the policy existed: Address the incident first (use
skyyrose-social-crisis-comms), then write the policy immediately after resolution to prevent recurrence. Document the incident as the founding case study for training.
- Team pushes back on restrictions: Frame the policy as protection, not punishment. Every restriction exists because a real brand (likely not this one — not yet) paid a real cost. Show examples. Focus on empowering people to post confidently, not on preventing them from posting.
- Policy is too long for busy collaborators: Create the one-page quick reference (Section 9 output format). The full policy is what enforcement references; the summary is what people actually read.
- No legal expertise in-house: The compliance section is a starting point, not a legal opinion. For any regulated category (giveaways over $X, formal partnership deals), flag for legal review before executing. Note this explicitly in the policy document itself.
- Solo brand (Corey only): Write a personal social media code of conduct — same structure, self-directed. Use it as the foundation when collaborators join. Having the document in place before it's needed is the whole point.
