# speclj-structure-check A static analysis tool that catches structural errors in [Speclj](https://github.com/slagyr/speclj) spec files before you run them. Speclj silently ignores certain nesting mistakes — like an `(it)` inside another `(it)`, or a `(describe)` inside a `(context)`. This tool parses your spec files and reports those errors with line numbers. ## Detected Errors - `(it)` nested inside `(it)` - `(describe)` nested inside `(describe)` or `(context)` - `(before)`, `(with-stubs)`, `(around)`, `(with)`, `(context)` inside `(it)` - Unclosed forms at end of file ## Usage Use either a Babashka `bb.edn` task or a normal Clojure `deps.edn` alias. Babashka is recommended for day-to-day use because it starts much faster and avoids JVM startup overhead in the `speclj-structure-check` launcher. The `clj` launcher remains fully supported and is useful as a compatibility fallback when debugging runtime-specific behavior. For Babashka, add a `check` task to your project's `bb.edn`: ```clojure {:paths ["src" "/path/to/speclj-structure-check/src"] :tasks {check {:doc "Run speclj-structure-check" :requires ([speclj-structure-check.core :as core]) :task (apply core/-main *command-line-args*)}}} ``` For normal Clojure, add a `:check` alias to your project's `deps.edn`: ```clojure :check {:main-opts ["-m" "speclj-structure-check.core"] :extra-deps {speclj-structure-check/speclj-structure-check {:local/root "/path/to/speclj-structure-check"}}} ``` Both launchers accept the same options: ```bash clj -M:check --help bb check --help ``` ``` Usage: speclj-structure-check [--tree] [--help] <path>... Options: --tree Print the Speclj form tree after the result --help Print this help message ``` ### Check a file ```bash clj -M:check path/to/my_spec.clj bb check path/to/my_spec.clj ``` ### Check a directory ```bash clj -M:check spec/ bb check spec/ ``` ### Show structure tree ```bash clj -M:check --tree spec/ bb check --tree spec/ ``` ## Output **Clean file:** ``` spec/my_spec.clj: OK ``` **Error:** ``` spec/my_spec.clj: ERROR line 5: (it) inside (it) at line 3 ``` **With `--tree`:** ``` spec/my_spec.clj: OK (describe :line 1 (before :line 2) (it :line 3) (it :line 5)) ``` Exit code is `1` if any errors are found, `0` otherwise. `--help` prints usage to stdout and exits with code `0`. ## Running the Tests ```bash clj -M:spec ```
