Backwardation means spot > futures — tight nearby supply. But it ALSO means negative roll return for long positions. You lose money every time you roll. Backwardation is bullish for spot but bearish for futures holders

Track the crop calendar: pollination (corn) = July, pod-setting (soybeans) = August, grain-fill (wheat) = May-June. The weather during the reproductive phase determines yield. Do not extrapolate vegetative-phase conditions to final yield. The market won't remove weather premium until the crop is made
Size for 2+ year mean reversion, not 2 months. The gold-silver ratio is NOT a short-term mean-reversion trade. It's a secular valuation metric. Consider: no carry (precious metals have zero yield), ratio can trend for years, and position must survive until the catalyst arrives
