Anti-Hallucination Rules
- NEVER assume resource names — always discover via CLI/API in Phase 1 before referencing in Phase 2.
- NEVER fabricate metric names or dimensions — verify against the service documentation or
--help output.
- NEVER mix CLI commands between service versions — confirm which version/API you are targeting.
- ALWAYS use the discovery → verify → analyze chain — every resource referenced must have been discovered first.
- ALWAYS handle empty results gracefully — an empty response is valid data, not an error to retry.

Common Pitfalls
- Uniform vs fine-grained access: Uniform bucket-level access uses only IAM. Fine-grained uses both IAM and ACLs. Check
uniformBucketLevelAccess before managing permissions.
- Storage class transitions: Objects can be moved to colder classes but cannot be moved back to Standard without rewriting. Check lifecycle rule direction.
- Requester pays: Buckets with requester-pays enabled charge the requester, not the bucket owner. Include
--billing-project when accessing such buckets.
- Object versioning cost: Versioning keeps all object versions, multiplying storage costs. Check
versioning.enabled and add lifecycle rules to delete old versions.
- Retention policies: Locked retention policies cannot be removed or shortened. Always verify before locking.
