# CocoIndex Code Plus — Public Docs
Public, user-facing documentation for **CocoIndex Code Plus** — a self-hosted
code search & navigation service (semantic search, AST structural grep, symbol
definitions/references; indexer + query server) with a `ccx` CLI and an MCP
endpoint.
## Guides
- **[docs/deploy.md](docs/deploy.md)** — deploy the backend (indexer + query
server) on Kubernetes with the
[`cocoindex-code-plus` Helm chart](https://github.com/orgs/cocoindex-io/packages/container/package/charts%2Fcocoindex-code-plus)
(public; released versions listed there). For platform / IT teams.
- **[docs/upgrade.md](docs/upgrade.md)** — upgrade a running deployment
between releases: the normal one-command upgrade, and an entry for every
release that needs anything more. For platform / IT teams.
- **[docs/rollout.md](docs/rollout.md)** — keep developers' `ccx` CLI, agent
skill and Claude Code plugin current: what reports itself, the chart values
that set the CLI floor and install command, and managed settings that
install the plugin for everyone. For platform / IT teams.
- **[docs/sso.md](docs/sso.md)** — SSO sign-in (OIDC) provider setup: which
role your provider can play (authorization server vs login-only), and the
per-provider recipes — Entra ID, Okta, Keycloak (direct or fronting
Google Workspace, Okta without its API Access Management add-on, or SAML-only IdPs) — each ending in the
Helm values it produces. For IdP admins and the platform engineer pairing
with them.
- **[docs/cli.md](docs/cli.md)** — install and use the `ccx` CLI (and the MCP
integration) to query an indexed codebase. For engineers and coding agents.
- **[docs/security.md](docs/security.md)** — security & deployment guide:
architecture and trust model, the complete egress list and air-gap recipe,
hardening checklist, audit-log formats, supply-chain verification, AI/ML
data handling. For security teams.
## Agent skill
- **[skills/ccx-codebase-explorer/SKILL.md](skills/ccx-codebase-explorer/SKILL.md)** — a Claude Code / Agent skill that
teaches an agent to drive the `ccx` CLI (semantic search, AST `grep`, symbol
`defs`/`refs` navigation, file access, and cited `ask` answers), with a full
[grep pattern-syntax reference](skills/ccx-codebase-explorer/references/grep-syntax.md).
Install it user-level with the [skills CLI](https://skills.sh) — it detects the
agents you have (Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Gemini CLI, …) and links the skill
into each:
```bash
npx skills add cocoindex-io/cocoindex-code-plus-pub -g -y
```
Keep the `-y`: without it the CLI asks which agents to install to, and on a
first run Claude Code starts unticked.
Update later with `npx skills update ccx-codebase-explorer -g` — the skill's
own first step asks `ccx` whether the copy in use and the CLI are current, and
the agent runs the command it names, with your approval, when they are not.
Without the CLI, copy the self-contained `skills/ccx-codebase-explorer/`
folder to `~/.claude/skills/ccx-codebase-explorer` (Claude Code) or your
agent's skills directory.
The skill teaches only what an agent acts on — which command to run and how to
read its output. Setup, login and operator guidance live in
[docs/cli.md](docs/cli.md), not in the skill.
**Installed before 2026-09-05?** The skill was named `ccx` then, and the CLI
treats it as a separate entry, so remove it first — this also cleans the links
it made in every agent's skills directory:
```bash
npx skills remove ccx -g
```
(Copied by hand instead: delete the `ccx` folder from each agent's skills
directory.) If the agent keeps grepping instead of using
it, [docs/cli.md → For agents & automation](docs/cli.md#for-agents--automation)
lists the levers, from the MCP endpoint to a one-line repo rule and a hook.
## Claude Code plugin
This repository is also a Claude Code plugin marketplace. The `ccx` plugin
bundles the skill above with hooks that put one line of context in front of
an agent at the moment it would grep an indexed checkout — including inside
subagents, which skills never reach:
```text
/plugin marketplace add cocoindex-io/cocoindex-code-plus-pub
/plugin install ccx@ccx
```
It needs the `ccx` CLI on `PATH` and a login to your deployment. Install the
plugin *or* the skill copy above on Claude Code, not both. Updates reach you
when you run `/plugin marketplace update ccx`, or on their own once you
enable auto-update for the `ccx` marketplace under `/plugin` →
Marketplaces; the hook warns in the session when the plugin is older than
your `ccx` expects, and tells the agent the command that updates it. Rolling
the plugin, the skill and the CLI out to a whole team:
[docs/rollout.md](docs/rollout.md). Installed it as `ccx@cocoindex` before 2026-10-23? The
marketplace was renamed; the same section says how to move it. Details,
including what the hook sends to your server:
[docs/cli.md → For agents & automation](docs/cli.md#for-agents--automation).
## About
CocoIndex Code Plus is built on [CocoIndex](https://cocoindex.io), the real-time
data transformation framework for AI.
This repository is consumed as a Git submodule (mounted at `pub/`) of the product
repository; edits made here flow back upstream.
