| name | worldbuilding |
| description | Build a coherent fictional world by linking environment, resources, history, culture, institutions, technology or magic, conflict, and everyday life. |
Worldbuilding
Use when creating or extending the systemic foundations of a fictional setting.
Procedure
- Define the experience and stories the world must support, plus established canon.
- Establish physical/metaphysical rules and meaningful constraints.
- Derive settlements, economies, politics, beliefs, technology, and culture from environment, resources, history, and power relationships.
- Build competing perspectives and internal diversity instead of monolithic cultures.
- Create active tensions, incentives, and unresolved pressures that can generate stories or gameplay.
- Check scale, travel, chronology, resources, and institutional behavior for contradictions.
- Record canon and open questions clearly for writers, artists, and designers.
Quality gate
The world should behave coherently when characters act inside it, not exist only as disconnected lore entries.
