ESP32 Project Initialization

Instructions

1. Set up ESP-IDF environment

. $HOME/esp/esp-idf/export.sh

2. Create project from template

mkdir -p ~/esp32-projects && cd ~/esp32-projects
idf.py create-project <project_name>
cd <project_name>

3. Set target chip

idf.py set-target esp32  # or esp32s2, esp32s3, esp32c3

4. Create project structure

mkdir -p components main/include

5. Create main application

Troubleshooting

• ESP-IDF not found: Source the export script: . $HOME/esp/esp-idf/export.sh
• Target not set: Run idf.py set-target esp32 before building
• Port permission denied: Add user to dialout group (Linux) or check USB drivers (macOS)
• Build fails after target change: Run idf.py fullclean then rebuild
