Month-end Close
Take the period from raw activity to reconciled books and statements the
operator can trust.
When to use
- The accounting period has ended.
- Before producing statements for an investor or lender.
Steps
- Gather all transactions, statements, and supporting documents.
- Reconcile every account against its statement; resolve mismatches.
- Post accruals, deferrals, and any adjusting entries.
- Review the trial balance for anything that looks off.
- Produce the P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow for the period.
Output
Reconciled books, adjusting entries logged, and a clean set of statements —
following the [[Close checklist]]. The operator signs off before filing.
