Documentation Version Governance Workflow

Use When

• Code and docs drift after upgrades or refactors.
• Team needs a repeatable docs alignment gate before release.

Outcomes

• Documentation claims match current engine/project behavior.
• Migration deltas are explicit and traceable.
• Docs updates are shipped with implementation changes.

Required Rules

• Validate implementation claims against pinned local docs.
• Flag outdated terms/API names as blocking documentation issues.
• Attach migration notes for behavior or naming changes.
• Keep docs checks in the release readiness gate.

Workflow

1. Identify changed systems and related documentation surfaces.
2. Validate docs statements against local doc anchors and implementation.
3. Capture drift findings and update docs with explicit version context.
4. Link migration notes where behavior changed.
5. Re-run docs validation before merge/release.

Validation

• Docs contain no known stale API/behavior claims for changed scope.
• Migration-sensitive changes include explicit notes and anchors.
• Release checklist includes docs sync completion evidence.

Failure Modes
