Graded TCG Storage and Display
Slabs store differently from raw cards. Heat, UV, and pressure are the killers. Plan storage like collectibles, not memorabilia.
Storage environment
Target storage:
- Temperature 65-72°F
- Humidity 35-50%
- No direct sunlight (UV bleaches inks)
- No pressure stacking (slabs flex)
- Foam-lined cases or magnetic stands
Failure modes: UV fade (years), slab warp (heat), cracked slab (drop or stack pressure).
Display options
- Magnetic acrylic stands — display, no UV protection
- UV-protective acrylic cases — best for long-term display
- Storage boxes (BCW slab box, Pelican) — bulk storage
- Wall-mounted slab displays — heat-risk near HVAC vents
- Safe deposit box — high-value, no display, max protection
Shipping discipline
Slabs ship in:
- Bubble wrap (2+ layers)
- Cardboard backer
- Rigid corrugated box
- USPS Priority Mail with signature + insurance
Never ship slabs in padded envelopes alone — pressure flex = cracked slab.
