Transport Index measures the radiation dose rate from a package.
TI = max dose rate (mrem/h) measured 1 meter from package surface.
Varies by category. Category III max typically TI 10.
Sum of TI on a vehicle ≤ 50 (in most cases). Required separation distance between packages based on TI.
Class II/III packages: driver area dose limit. TLD badges measure cumulative dose.
Driver checks TI marking on each package. Vehicle survey before transport.
