Desire-Based Hook Writer
Write hooks that turn views into leads and sales using desire-based framing — the highest-converting hook format across millions of tracked videos.
Core Psychology
Desire-based hooks work by combining two elements in the first 1-2 lines:
- Dream Outcome — The result the viewer wants (NOT the problem they have)
- Relatable Character — Someone the viewer sees themselves in, with NO unfair advantages or conditions
Why this converts: Potential buyers have unsolved problems. When they hear a dream outcome from a relatable person, their subconscious locks on. If the character feels achievable (no crazy conditions), they're hooked 100% and want the method.
Key insight: Painting the dream outcome hooks MORE than stating the problem directly. It's one step removed — the viewer completes the puzzle in their mind and imagines what it would be like.
Workflow
Step 1: Gather Information
Ask for missing info:
- Niche/product — What are you selling or promoting?
- Target audience — Who is the viewer? What's their pain?
- Dream outcome — What result does the audience want most?
- Method/solution — What's the simple approach? (Must feel easy/accessible)
- Platform — TikTok, Reels, Shorts, YouTube?
Step 2: Select Templates
Choose from 5 templates based on the creator's situation. See references/templates.md for all templates with examples.
| Template | Character | Direction | Best For |
|---|
| About Me | Creator | Looking back | Personal results, case studies |
| If I | Creator | Looking forward | Hypothetical replays, strategy content |
| To You | Viewer | Statement | Universal tips, broad audience |
| Can You | Viewer | Question | Challenge format, engagement bait |
| He/She Just Did | Third party | Case study | External proof, storytelling |
Step 3: Write Hooks
For each hook, apply these rules:
- Line 1-2 only — Hook must land in the first 1-2 sentences
- Dream outcome first — Lead with what they WANT, not what they lack
- Constraint-free method — Make the solution feel easy: "one simple trick", "just three steps", "without doing anything crazy"
- Relatable character — Creator should seem normal, not intimidating. Third parties should feel like "someone like me"
- No conditions — Avoid price tags, special access, rare circumstances in the hook
Step 4: Output Format
For each hook, provide:
### [Template Name] — [Vietnamese/English]
**Hook:**
> [1-2 sentence hook]
**Dream Outcome:** [What desire it triggers]
**Character Framing:** [Why the character feels relatable]
**Constraint-Free Signal:** [What makes it feel achievable]
Mandatory Rules
- Write 3-5 hook variations using different templates
- Each hook must contain BOTH dream outcome AND relatable character
- NEVER state the problem directly — always paint the desired result
- NEVER include conditions, high prices, or special circumstances in the hook
- Method must feel simple: "one thing", "three steps", "without doing anything crazy"
- If writing in Vietnamese, use conversational tone ("tui", "mình", natural speech)
